In 2020 AT&T reported a loss, so would not seem an obvious candidate for new investing from a value investor. However, underlying earnings were actually pretty average and an analysis that looks at underlying earnings would give a different impression of the earnings power and hence the value of AT&T common stock.
The price of the common stock of AT&T declined from a per in 2016 and is still way below its peak price in 1999.. The longer term price chart suggests that AT&T is cheap and you can see the longer term price history in the chart below.
